DERRICK McBride

I like to think my combination of varied education and personal exploration into movement creates a unique and comprehensive form of care. I've been trained in some of the most ancient forms of medicine for treating pain and inflammation as well as the most modern modalities to improve mobility and rehab injuries to a fully functional level.

When I'm not in the clinic or teaching sports acupuncture continuing education courses, I'm putting theory into action. I value testing my own physical and mental limits with various challenges. I strongly believe a practitioner who works with an athletic population has to know the experiences of athletes on a personal level.

Derrick’s formal education and certifications include:

  • Licensed Acupuncturist

  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist

  • MS in Acupuncture

  • BS in Rehabilitation Science

  • Minor in Fitness

  • Certificate in Pathokinesiology

  • Adjunct Professor in the Health Sciences Department of Duquesne University

  • Continuing education provider for acupuncturists specializing in teaching orthopedic testing, movement assessments, and anatomically based functional treatment strategies

  • Teaching Assistant to Sports Acupuncture Apprenticeship Program

  • Functional Movement Screen Certified

  • Selective Functional Movement Assessment Certified

  • 6 Month Apprenticeship in Sports Acupuncture

  • Rocktape Basic and Performance Certified

  • Patients include many professional and elite level athletes including NFL, NBA, MLS, UFC, Red Bull, Nitro Circus athletes

Christopher Stevens

I found my way into the field of integrative medicine by taking my knowledge of exercise science and applying it beyond the scope of fitness. Intrigued by the outstanding results that could be obtained through correcting muscular imbalances and spinal misalignments, I chose to further my education and opted for holistic care. After earning a master's degree in acupuncture, I realized that healthcare should incorporate both conventional and alternative treatment methods and utilize them in tandem to target and fix biomechanical failures at their source.

My emploment history includes personal training, group fitness instruction, corporate wellness coaching, physical rehabilitation, and general acupuncture.

Outside of the clinic, I'm often hiking, snowboarding, jamming out to music, or binge-watching exhilarating television shows and movies during my much-needed downtime. I've also become an avid runner and completed two full marathons as well as an ultramarathon.
